The Legend

Thanks to everyone who went out and ran The Legend today at Sleepy Hollow. Running that race at a good solid pace will really help you make a jump in fitness right before the season starts. We had our first overall winner this year as Ryan Beyea took home the 10 mile title by ~2 minutes! Hopefully next year we can get a larger showing of Halsett runners running the race. I should put it on our official racing schedule on athletic.net.

Link to results for all races.

I was unable to make this year's race because I was out at a different race near Jackson, MI. I definitely know what conditions you were working with this morning. After I finished my race it looked like I just got out of the lake.

WAM

I was out on my run this morning and typically I don't see many people. I was headed out to the dirt roads of Bath... one of my favorite loops to run, Peacock Road. It ended up not being such a typically morning because I think I set a record for saying high to people this morning. For about 2 miles heading out on Upton road there were a few hundred road bikers coming at me. I had to run on the other side of the road because there were so many. I probably ended up saying hi to over 20-30 bikes, and another 10 or so head nods.

When I got home I had to look up what was going on... and that is what I wanted to share. Just another cool event to keep in mind as you get older and are looking for new challenges to conquer. A 300 mile bike ride from Traverse City to support the Make-A-Wish Foundation. More information on the Wish-A-Mile (WAM) event can be found HERE. The map of the 300+ mile ride is HERE.

Biker Gang

From this picture it looks like Becky went along with no bike. Maybe she ran... or rode on someone's handlebars? Good times!

Boy... the weather has not been friendly for us runners. Hang in there. Once it cools off it will feel so much easier on your runs. I have tons of respect for those of you that are showing up for the group runs, putting in your miles and doing the quality workouts. I know it's not easy... but come fall you will be crushing your competition.

Sunday 9/18 @ 8:30 AM!

Sunday, September 18 @ 8:30 AM... Haslett needs you for about 20 to 30 minutes to run the 5k at the Cooley Law School 5k. This is the same morning as the Capital City River Run 1/2 marathon water station... so we will need to plan accordingly so we can hopefully do both. We have the ability and organization to make both work.

Race information is here...

Basically the more nominations Haslett Cross Country has, the greater the chance we have to win a donation to our wonderful program. Start spreading the word... aunts, uncles, grandma's and grandpa's are all welcome to join us.
