Friday @ HRC cross country camp

Congratulations to everyone that participated in this years cross country camp. Runners give yourself (parents give your child) a big pat on the back for all the hard work over the past week that was completed. Having runners that were prepared for camp made for a very successful week. The main goal of camp was to increase the pace of easy runs. The goal for each day's workout was to run a little harder than easy. Overtime the runner will get used to running a little faster on their easy runs... and this acclimatization to a faster pace on easy days will translate to faster race times in the fall. Keep up the great work through July and August and you will be thankful when you toe the line in the fall.

Friday's workout was a 4-mile time trial on the 2-mile HHS cross country course. Runners completed a 2-mile warm up, some team stretching, strides and drills before their time trail. A twist to this time trial was that it was also a prediction run. Runners left their watches back with their gear, and had to predict what time they would run. The winner is determined by who comes closest to their time. After the time trial and a 2-mile cool down campers headed over to Cone Zone for awards and ice cream.

The Boy's winner was Ian McCabe and the Girl's winner was Jordan Stickler.
