Having the 4th or 5th runner on the team set the pace helped to group up the runners and learn to run as a team. This slowed down some runners and increased the pace for others. After the first 2 miles, runners could maintain their pace or pick up their pace. Runners who were able to pick up their pace also got to feel what it is like to negative split (running the second half of their race faster).
For many of the runners this was their 3rd time trail of the summer and it showed... times for the majority of runners were faster. Team camp information was given to those that have achieved the "B" standard for camp (running in at least 2 of the 3 HRC Time Trials). On the first day of official practice (August 11th) runners who have not met the "B" standard will have a chance to meet the "A" standard for camp, by finishing in the top 7 at the cross country team's time trial.
