Running in a Winter Wonderland

It was such a pleasure to watch our winter warriors hammer out mile repeats on the track in one of our first winter snow falls. The boys and girls either had 4 x mile or 3 x mile @ 5k race pace with a 400 meter recover jog.

Talking with the runners and trying to justify their time spent on their cold winter runs, the idea of appreciation came up. When one is out training in conditions like we had today it makes one appreciate the luxuries we have... and sometime take for granted. I can guarantee when the runners went home after their hard run in the blowing snow... they had one of the best showers they have ever had, and their heated home was the coziest it has ever been.

When we have new experience to change how we think about things, we can grow and become better people because of these experiences. Keep up the great work over the next few months. I know I am looking forward to seeing you all on the coldest of winter days. Trust me... it makes the post-run cup of hot chocolate that much better!
