Busy Weekend for Runners
It was a pleasantly busy weekend for the Cross Country team. Friday was the annual F-16 for some runners. Saturday was the Linden Invitational for others, and Sunday was the Capital City River Run. A lot of behind the scene action took place to make all of this work. Thanks to all for helping out. It does take a village to raise a runner.
The Fall 1600 was a solid effort for those runners that had done their running homework all summer and needed a change of pace. This also allowed these runners to test their fitness in a different context. The goal for the girls was to run 6:00 pace for the first 1200 and then blast the last 400. For the boys it was to run 5:00 pace for the first 1200 and then blast the last 400. Mission accomplished.
Saturday's Linden Invitational was held on Linden's new cross country course. What a great job they did, and what an amazing course it was. We saw a few solid PRs for the event.
Sunday was the CCRR. Mrs. Corder organized the water station for the second year. Thank you to her and to all the runners that showed up to support the runners... especially T. Stanko and Coach Campa. Mrs. Stanko was sick earlier in the week, so her goal was to go with the flow and see what happened. It was a joyous hard effort for her. Coach Campa led the 8:30 pace group, and ran the race like clockwork. Another day at the office for these two runners.
Everyone is starting to get into the swing of racing, and times are starting to drop. There is still a good deal of hard work ahead of us, and the team looks to be right on track for another great season.
