MSU Recap

The boys and girls went into MSU with different race strategies. The boys held back for the first 2 miles and then tried to pass as many people over the last mile. The girls tried to race all out from start to finish.

98% of the boys were passing runners like they were standing still when I saw them with about 1/2 mile to go. It was awesome to see. The girls got out and ran well, but we feel there is still room for much improvement. To put things in perspective a little more.

I know this runner who has a PR of 14:16 for 5k. When the runner ran this race the splits where 4:34 and 9:05. This runners PRs at this time for the mile was 4:20 and 8:58 for 2 miles. This means that he was running at 95% of his mile PR pace and 99% of his 2 mile PR for his 5k race.

We currently feel that our top girls right now are in shape to run sub-6:00 for a mile. That means our girls should be out in...
  • 6:18 at the mile
  • 12:34 at 2 miles
So challenge yourself to get out fast. It's pretty much the only way to run fast.
