Athlete vs. Runner

If two runners of equal RUNNING ABILITY toe the line for a mile race who will win the race?  Runner A and runner B have done the same exact running workouts over the past year and their running fitness is 100% equal.  What makes runner A different from runner B is that runner A has done the extra work to become a well rounded athlete.

Runner A will win!

We do hurdle drills; max pull ups, push ups, single leg split squats; cals; and drills/strides.  Some of you go beyond this and acquire athletic skills by doing supplemental work in the morning on your non-running days.  All this makes you a better athlete.  The athlete will win every time over the equal runner.

Below is a site I "ran across" while I was researching how to work into performing a single leg squat.  One of my new goals is to be able to rip off a handful of single leg squats (like some of you can do).  The last week + my legs have been telling me some unkind words... but I keep telling them they will thank me down the road.  The website has some pretty cool tutorials on skills that would make you all better athletes.

Get to work!
