Running Times

On newsstands now is one good Running Times... maybe one of the best issues to date. It's a close call. If you have $4.99 and the time go buy yourself an issue at a local book store.
Some highlights from the magazine that you can look forward to reading.
  1. "Back to the Future" A story written by a former Michigan runner, Rachel Sturtz. Not only was she a pretty fast runner, she is also a pretty good writer. The story talks about 2 famous runners from the 90's. One of these runners was born and raised right here in Michigan... Monroe, MI to be exact.
  2. "Lesson of the Long Run" Running long is important and running long and fast is even more important. Many other successful teams know this, just like Haslett knows this.
  3. "Innovative Injury Insurance" Hurdles, calisthenics, forms drills... you name it, we do it so we can increase our chances of staying healthy and running fast.
  4. "Hot Myths" Running in the heat is not easy, but you can get used to it. Some of this information will help explain why you see Coach Stanko running around in layers in the early part of spring... so when it does heat up it's not such a big deal.
  5. "The Magic from Maywood Park" Talk about setting the stage for what is normal. These runners helped each other achieve some pretty fast times on the track.
Go get a copy and read up. I know most of you have the time now.
