ADAPT

While out in Seattle at the Brooks Inspiring Coaching Camp I sat next to a coach from California at dinner and we had plenty of time to discuss everything about running. Coach Clemons coaches at Trabuco Hills High School and the team has some pretty fast runners. Jantzen Oshier just ran 4:00 for the 1600 this past spring.
What you need to know from this discussion is that we do what other successful teams are doing around the country. Coach Clemons uses the word ADAPT to describe what we call progression runs. ADAPT stands for Average, Daily, Aerobic, Pace, Training. The goal is to increase the high end of your aerobic pace... which we both agreed on being the biggest factor for a distance runner. So.... keep on working on your medium and fast running efforts. Let it come naturally and don't force it. Just run and run fast.

If you need some more explanation of what I mean PLEASE let me know. It's how we will get our team to reach it's full potential.
