HRC Time Trial #2

The Haslett Running Club held its second time trial on Thursday, July 10th. 26 runners finished and put in a solid effort. It was nice to see runners running together in pairs or small groups. It's always nice to have someone to help push the pace when things get a little uncomfortable.

A few words on warm-ups and cool-downs. The team's warm-up and cool-down are just as important as the race/workout itself. Be sure to complete the full 2 mile warm-up and the full 2 mile cool-down... or whatever the required distance is for that specific day. On race days the team will be running a 5k for their warm-up and a 2 mile cool-down, so it is a good idea to get into the habit now. If you are cutting the warm-up short... you are not only letting your teammates down, but you are also not putting in the needed work to reach your full potential. Spread the word and encourage your teammates to do what it takes to be the best.

It's great to see so many runners who are willing to put in the hard work over the summer. If running cross country was easy everyone would do it. Whether you are following the Blue, Yellow, or White training plan, the time trials show who has been doing their homework from day to day. Keep up the good work and study hard!

Good Job Runners!!! You are all working really hard. Running 4 miles is hard work. Some of you had a good day and others found it hard....You will have good days and bad days. Like I mentioned to Ian McCabe...some days 'chickens' and some days 'feathers.' Your hard work now will make a difference when you get some cooler temps for your first xc race. See you next week. All, keep up the good work!!!

Special kudos to Joe and Madeline for their big improvements.

Sometimes big improvements can be had through belief and a new found willingness to suffer.
