Warm-Up and Cool-Down

Warming up and Cooling down for track races is a little different than cross-country because at most meets you will be running 2-4 events. Below is an example for someone that is running 2 events... like at MSU next Monday.

WARM-UP Approximately 45-minutes before your first race.
  • Run 20-minutes
  • Stretching
  • Drills & Strides
COOL-DOWN after 1st Race.
  • Run 5-minutes
  • Light stretching
WARM-UP 2nd race.
  • Run 5-minutes
  • Light stretching
  • 2 strides
COOL-DOWN after final race.
  • Run 20-minutes
  • Light stretching
