Super Bowl 5k... the icing on the cake.

Great to see everyone working hard at Sunday's Super Bowl 5k in Okemos.

Some very impressive running by everyone. Your consistency this winter has already done amazing things. By no means was Sunday a day to run a PR. It should have been more of a hard workout... a day to run hard. It was cold, windy, and some of the roads were covered with slushy snow. Even with those two factors everyone ran close to some of their best times from the fall. It's so much fun to come watch you all put forth your best effort. I can really see it in your faces... the focus and drive as your abilities are gradually increasing from all your hard work. Keep it up and enjoy the wonderful process.

ICING ON THE CAKE... Another way to look at your running is to think of your races as "icing on the cake." The ingredients are the different kinds of training you do, i.e. hills, long runs, easy runs, progressive runs, intervals, calisthenics, hurdle drills, etc. You mix them all together to get your training. You bake these ingredients by doing the hard work. Then comes the icing... the race to top it all off. If you have read this and tell me in person at school that "you enjoy the icing on your cake" I will be happy to hand over a special prize for you.
