OFSAA

OFSAA is the Ontario Federations of School Athletic Association. Many great runners come out of these championships in Canada. 3 great races from the 1987 Championships. Ian Forsyth who ran at Michigan won the midget 3k. Some very good videos from OFSAA. The commentary is pretty darn good, as they talk about a variety of different topics.

This is a epic race featuring 3 girls, who to this day, each hold records. Jennifer Armstrong of Saunders SS who holds the ofsaa record for both Midget and Junior 3000m and Canadian under 18 record. Leanne McVey of New Liskerd who holds the 1500m ofssa Junior record. Finally Carol TREPANIER of Theriault who holds the 10000m u20 Canadian record .Leanne probably would have ran a record setting race , but was out kicked in the last 50 m. Enjoy!

Graham Hood running the 1987 ofsaa midget 3000m race... and getting beat by Ian Forsyth (yellow jersey)! Bam!

This is an amazing video of Greg Anderson from Dundas Parkside high school running the 3000m at OFSAA 1987 at McMaster University. He set an OFSAA record and it is the Canadian National record for his age. This was a North American record for 22 years until Hernandez from California broke it in 2009.
Sean Cleary of Georgetown took the field out fast and spread out the pack. His efforts assited Greg to run the record breaking race. Brendan Matthias pushed Greg for 5 laps (Brendan later won Canadian Junior 1500 meter Championship and set a Canadian Jr. 1500 meter record of 3:39.1 and then went on to the1992 Olympics)
